Developed & dyno tested
The Futuri Ducati 1000 / 1100 2V Velocity Stack Kit was originally developed for my own Ducati Hypermotard 1100.
Rather than simply removing the original airbox and fitting pod filters directly to the throttle bodies, the velocity stacks were specifically designed to provide a smooth, high-flow transition into the throttle bodies while allowing the use of large 90 mm individual air filters.
The design was developed and validated through dyno testing, road use and track riding. On the original development motorcycle, rear-wheel power increased from 98 hp to 103 hp.
Since then, the same setup has consistently produced gains of around +5 hp at the rear wheel on almost every motorcycle tested. Around 25–30 Ducati 2-valve engines are currently running this intake setup, with some kits having been in use for several years.
Actual performance gains depend on engine specification, exhaust system, ECU mapping and other modifications.
Besides the performance increase, removing the original airbox completely changes the induction sound of the big Ducati 2-valve engine, particularly when opening the throttle.
PA12 Carbon Fiber (Nylon) or CNC aluminium
The velocity stacks are available in two material versions.
PA12 Carbon Fiber (Nylon)
The lightweight version is 3D printed from carbon-fiber-reinforced PA12 nylon (PA12-CF), an engineering material offering excellent strength, temperature resistance and durability while keeping weight extremely low.
CNC-machined aluminium
The premium version is CNC-machined from aluminium, providing the same developed internal geometry in a fully machined metal component with a premium finish.
Both versions use exactly the same intake geometry and provide the same intended airflow and performance. The difference is the material, manufacturing method, appearance and weight.
RamAir or K&N filters
Complete kits are available with either 90 mm RamAir foam filters or compatible K&N pleated filters.
RamAir foam filters are the standard configuration used during development and provide a compact fit underneath the Hypermotard fuel tank.
The K&N filters are slightly larger than the RamAir filters, resulting in a tighter installation underneath the fuel tank.
Customers purchasing the Stacks Only version can source their own compatible 90 mm filters.
Compatibility
Designed for compatible Ducati motorcycles using the 1000 / 1100 2-valve Dual Spark engine and throttle-body configuration.
The velocity stacks were originally developed and extensively tested on the Ducati Hypermotard 1100.
Fitment on other Ducati 1000 / 1100 2V models depends on the available space around the throttle bodies and motorcycle-specific components.
ECU remapping required
ECU remapping is required after installing these velocity stacks.
Removing the original airbox and substantially increasing intake airflow changes the engine’s fuelling requirements. The motorcycle should not simply be operated with the original mapping without verifying the air/fuel ratio.
For the best results, the motorcycle should be individually mapped on a dyno for its specific engine, exhaust and intake configuration.
Important
Performance results can vary depending on engine specification, exhaust system, ECU mapping and other modifications.
The approximately +5 hp rear-wheel gain stated above is based on repeated dyno testing and should not be interpreted as a guaranteed power increase for every motorcycle.
Installation modifies the motorcycle’s original intake system. Correct installation and ECU calibration are the responsibility of the installer.
Prefer to 3D print your own?
The same developed velocity stack geometry is also available separately as a 3D-printable digital file package.
This allows you to manufacture the velocity stacks yourself and source your preferred filters and fittings locally while using the same velocity stack geometry developed and dyno tested for the physical Futuri versions.
