Why modify the Ducati dry clutch?
The characteristic sound of a Ducati dry clutch is part of its appeal, but the movement responsible for much of that rattling also causes mechanical wear.
At low engine speeds, the firing pulses and drivetrain movement of the Ducati L-twin repeatedly load and unload the clutch. In the standard dry-clutch arrangement, this allows the friction plates to repeatedly hammer backwards and forwards against the clutch basket.
Over time, this can wear grooves into the basket and damage the friction-plate tangs. The same drivetrain movement also contributes to the bucking and snatch often experienced when riding a Ducati at low speeds.
The Biggelaar Performance Quiet Clutch Modification controls this movement rather than simply masking the resulting noise.
How does the Biggelaar Performance clutch modification work?
A precision ring, specially prepared convex steel plate and modified friction plate maintain light pressure on the clutch pack, significantly reducing its ability to move backwards and forwards inside the basket.
The result is:
✔ Dramatically reduced dry-clutch rattle with the clutch engaged
✔ Smoother low-speed riding with reduced bucking and drivetrain snatch
✔ Reduced hammering of the friction plates against the clutch basket
✔ Reduced wear of the clutch basket and friction-plate tangs
✔ Potentially longer service life of expensive dry-clutch components
✔ Characteristic Ducati dry-clutch sound when the clutch is disengaged
What’s included?
The kit contains the components required for the Biggelaar Performance clutch modification:
✔ Precision machined stainless steel rear clutch-basket ring
✔ Special convex steel spring plate
✔ Modified friction plate
✔ Steel 1.5mm adjustment plates for setting the clutch pack
✔ Futuri Motion Tech transparent sticker
✔ Detailed Futuri Motion Tech installation manual (digitally provided)
Choose the correct version
Select the basket material and friction plate type that match your Ducati.
Basket Material
Aluminium or Steel – Select the material of the clutch basket currently fitted to your motorcycle. Steel and aluminium baskets require a different rear-ring installation method. Both procedures are covered in the supplied installation manual.
Friction Plate Type
12 teeth
The most common Ducati dry-clutch configuration.
42 teeth
For clutch systems using a 42-tooth friction plate.
Installation and operation are otherwise identical for both friction plate versions.
Compatibility
Designed for Ducati motorcycles equipped with the traditional dry-clutch system and clutch pushrod running through the engine/crankcase.
The modification is suitable for a wide range of Ducati dry-clutch models. Some very early Ducati clutch systems with the clutch slave mechanism located on the clutch-cover side are not compatible.
If you are unsure which version you need, please contact Futuri Motion Tech before ordering.
Installation
Installation requires removal and reassembly of the Ducati dry-clutch plate pack and correct adjustment of the completed clutch setup.

A detailed Futuri Motion Tech installation manual is digitally supplied with the kit and covers the complete installation, correct component orientation, clutch-pack adjustment, inspection and final checks.
The original Biggelaar installation and technical videos below provide additional information about the modification, installation and clutch inspection.
A suitable clutch holding tool is required when loosening and tightening the clutch assembly. Incorrectly restraining the clutch can damage the clutch hub or clutch posts. The Futuri Motion Tech Ducati Dry Clutch Fixation Tool is available separately from our shop and is designed specifically for safely holding the Ducati dry clutch during service work.
Important: The modification is designed to reduce clutch-pack movement and subsequent wear. It cannot repair an already severely worn or damaged clutch basket, clutch hub or other clutch components. Always inspect the existing clutch before installation.
